LSP Tip: Password Reset

A tip from your friendly neighborhood LSPs

Over the past few months, we have received inquiries when the time nears for someone to change their password.

Below are some helpful tips about resetting your password and an email example of the reminder notifications you will receive.

• You will receive multiple reminder notifications within the 30 days before your current password expires
• It is necessary to change your password annually
• You can reset your password anytime by either navigating to:
• Start Button -> UVA Password Reset -> Reset Your UVA Password (this step is for a UVA Finance Windows device), or
• You can use this link from any device
• It is necessary to use the web link as the method to change your password.
• IMPORTANT- You do not want to use the Ctrl-Alt-Delete method from your keyboard. That method will not officially register your password as changed.
• With most of us working remote now, even after you change your password it will not automatically update the Windows profile on your laptop.
• Initially, you may need to use your old password to log into the Windows profile on your laptop
• If you are off grounds when you change your password, the way to update your Windows profile is to:
• Verify you are connected to HSVPN
• Lock your profile and sign back in with the new password
